The Southern Artist Herman Ferrell was born and raised in the placid southern surroundings of Hammond, Louisiana. His talent in art was apparent at an early age. Ferrell spent hours refining the artistic techniques that are his own.
Ferrell's deep affection for the outdoors, which Mother Nature provides numerous subjects to experience a moment of light in time. That, is the moment of light he wants to capture in his paintings, he is always looking for more light. Light comes from the east, travels across the land to brings forth a comfortable, relaxed feeling, to life and to shared with others through his paintings. Ferrell's Father interduced him to hunting and fishing at an early age and the beauty of Mother Nature in the woods, the fields, the water and the light. The responsibility and respect we all have to keep this earth the way we found it, for we are the stewards of the land . This is the way and why, Ferrell became an artist to capture the light of what we have to keep, save, cherish and love. Living in a Southern coastal state he became interested in wooden boats a specialy the old wooden shrimp boats and other types of boats, fishing boats, sail boats, etc., the older, larger wooden shrimp boats he thought of as dinosaurs. One day they too would become extinct. Katrina made these old wooden boats extinct now. After all, it is all part of history.
Herman Ferrell attended Southeastern Louisiana University where he majored in art. His works have received many awards and have been purchased by many collectors throughout the United States and the World.
